The Hands We Hold

In the late fall of 2015, I held a friend’s hand as we asked one another what level of personal and professional risk we were willing to take. The evening that followed was scary, but not nearly as scary as the months leading up to it, and certainly not as scary for us, two young white, cisgender women, as it was for so many others who live with identities more marginalized than hours. In this service, I’ll share the larger story of that evening, and together we’ll look at how relationship helps us take risks, and how the risks we take (or the risks we support others taking) might lead us toward a world where we are all free.
